From Playtime to Shoreline
We plant mangroves through Eden: People+Planet (formerly Eden Reforestation Projects). They’re the quiet superheroes of the plant world — capturing three to five times more carbon than tropical rainforests, protecting shorelines from storms, and creating safe nurseries for fish and shellfish. Think of them as nature’s multitasking parent: shielding, feeding, and tidying up all at once.
Roots in the Community
Our planting partner uses an “Employ to Plant” model, meaning local villagers are paid fair wages to plant and protect the mangroves. In Lamu County alone, over 1,120 hectares have been restored, creating 50,000+ paid work days and nurturing 16.5 million mangrove trees. That’s food on tables, kids in school, and stronger communities — all while restoring ecosystems.
A Double Win for the Planet
Alongside the mangroves, we fund the permanent removal of 1 kg of CO₂ per order through Greenspark’s UN-accredited carbon projects — from wind farms to improved cookstoves. In toddler terms: the mangroves are the long-term healthy diet, the CO₂ removal is the “quick snack” that tides the planet over right now.
